Welcome to RTOMPSTYLE.COM, a place where you will see the images by Bob Tompkins. My photographic experience started in the 70's with a Kodak Instamatic 104 camera and a basic black and white darkroom kit. A couple years later I became employed with American Greetings Corporation in Cleveland working in the photographic areas for approximately 25 years. My equipment progressed from that Instamatic camera to a Yashica rangefinder, then Minolta SLRs to Nikon SLR's, Canon digital point and shoots, and finally the Nikon DSLR. Other occupations have included aircraft mechanic, aerospace technician, part time firefighter, and  work in the Bio-Med field.

My direction is with motion in my images. I have an on-going series I call "Nature In Motion" which started while walking my dogs on park trails with a point and shoot. Reflecting from water is another series recently started, sometimes these images take on a abstract or extreme graphic look. I have shown my work in restaurants, bars, coffee shops, nature centers and local art festivals. My nature and reflective series are printed on canvas to give a painterly and contemporary look.  My other photograghic subject interest includes capturing old abandoned buildings in various stages of decay. I also enjoy photographing models amongst various settings including abandoned buildings, street scenes incorporating casual dress or fashion looks. Architecture / abstracts are of photographic interest also.
